Head softball coach Courtney Orr is in her first season at the helm of the Wildcat program.
Orr comes to Charlotte from the Pittsburgh area, where she was most recently the head coach at Chatham University. She led the Cougars to double-digit wins in her lone season at the helm. Two of her players at Chatham, Irene Martin and Victoria Murren earned All-President's Athletic Conference honors.
Her collegiate experience prior to Chatham includes spending the 2021-22 year as an assistant coach at Hocking College. This was the inaugural season for the Hocking, and Orr played an integral role in getting the program started, as she was involved in all aspects of the first year program from recruiting and academics to purchasing and practice planning. Once they took the field, the Hawks posted a 15-14 record.
She served as an assistant coach at her alma mater, Fairmont State from 2016-2020. Her duties included administrative tasks related to travel and budget, daily facility operations, on-field coaching, and academic success for the Falcons. Orr (nee Iacobacci) was a standout player at Fairmont State, earning NFCA 1st Team All-American honors in 2016. She was also named both the Mountain East Conference and CCA Atlantic Region Player of the Year. She holds six single-season offensive records for the Falcons. Orr finished her career at Fairmont State by earning a Master's degree in Exercise Physiology.
